Interior Access
This is the thirteenth building to house the Paris Opera since the Opera was founded in 1669. Constructed as part of the great building programme which included the great boulevards of Haussman. Garnier was unknown when he won the competition to design the Opera house, and building work started in 1860. The building opened in 1875.
The building has a magnificent interior as well as a highly decorated exterior. It is totally surrounded by streets, so the complete exterior can be appreciated with a short walk around the perimeter.
C'est le treizième bâtiment pour loger l'opéra de Paris puisque l'opéra a été fondé en 1669. Construit en tant qu'élément du grand programme de construction qui a inclus les grands boulevards de Haussman. Garnier était inconnu quand il a gagné la concurrence de concevoir le théatre de l'$opéra, et travail de bâtiment a commencé en 1860. Le bâtiment ouvert en 1875.
Le bâtiment a un intérieur magnifique comme un extérieur fortement décoré. Il est totalement entouré par des rues, ainsi l'extérieur complet peut être apprécié avec une promenade courte autour du périmètre.
